Girl Genius
I've been a fan of Phil and Kaja Foglios art for years, my copy of GURPS IOU is looking a bit tatty but I still love the art work. I've been interested in their lastest project Girl Genius ever since I heard the announement of the Girl Genuis RPG. I'd heard of it before then but as it was a comic (and not a major publisher one) I didn't do too well finding it over here. But with the game announcement I went out and tracked down the collected comics for parts one and two.
Then champed at the bit for part three to come out.
Why? Because it's a great comic romp that is slowly unfolding a complex plot showing there is a lot of background to this setting we don't know about yet. Genre wise it's Steam Punk with added Mad Science! Reading through it though you can see the potential for other plots that can exist in the same setting which for the GM in me makes me very happy.
But don't take my word for it, go read it yourself. Recently Phil and Kaja decided the print comics just weren't doing so well so they decided to stop doing them. Instead they are now publishing 3 pages of comic a week, a schedule thay have managed to keep since they announced it, once they have enough pages they will then release another compliation, Book Four is due very soon. They are also publishing all the pages for the back issues 3 pages a week until they have the whole story in archive. So go have a read, if you like it buy some books. And then you can join the throng waiting for Book Four and wondering just what the hell is happening.
